"The Muppet Show Theme" is the theme song of the comedy series The Muppet Show.

History[edit | edit source]

After he had been watching The Muppet Show with Stewie, Peter began to recite the song at The Drunken Clam. Although Joe Swanson wasn't aware of the song, many others in the bar soon joined in, including Cleveland Brown, Glenn Quagmire, Jesus Christ, Consuela, Elmer Hartman, Joyce Kinney, Tom Tucker, Ida Davis, Bruce Straight, Carl, Ollie Williams, Sheila, Bert, Opie, Wild West, John Herbert, Elle Hitler, Tricia Takanawa, John Shepherd, Seamus Levine, Al Harrington, Jerome and Mort Goldman. Later on, after the song was still present in Peter's memory, he reminded himself that it was playing when he was "Inception-ed", along with Joe, Quagmire and Cleveland. During a sequence, a car carrying the men is seen reversing through a barrier off a bridge.^[1]

Peter: [softly] It's time to play the music.

It's time to light the light.

It's time to meet the Muppets on the Muppet Show tonight.

Joe: (speaking): What's that from?

Tom Tucker: It's time to put on makeup.

Herbert: It's time to dress up right.

Seamus: It's time to raise the curtain,

Tom Tucker/Herbert/Seamus: On the Muppet Show tonight!

Quagmire: Why do we always come here?

Cleveland: I guess we'll never know.

Quagmire: It's like a kind of torture,

Cleveland/Quagmire: To have to watch the show!

[Seamus does a drum solo]

Peter/Quagmire/Cleveland: But now let's get things started.

Jerome/Barflies: Why don't you get things started?

Peter: It's time to get things started.

Everyone: On the most sensational inspirational, celebrational, Muppetational

This is what we call the Muppet Show!

[Mort closes by blowing a ram's horn]

Joe: (speaking): Did you guys just make that up?
